How Invisalign orthodontic treatment from your dentist in Jacksonville Beach, FL, can help your smile

Have you been thinking about straightening your smile? If so, you may have heard about Invisalign. Invisalign has revolutionized orthodontic treatment, making treatment comfortable and discreet. Dr. Josh Goldknopf at The Brace Place Orthodontics offers a full range of orthodontic services, including Invisalign. He has two convenient office locations in Jacksonville Beach, and Ponte Vedra, Florida to help your smile.

Let’s take a closer look at Invisalign. These are just a few frequently asked questions and answers about Invisalign treatment:

Why is Invisalign revolutionary?

Invisalign uses clear plastic trays, known as aligners instead of conventional brackets and wires.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign is comfortable because the aligners are made of smooth plastic, making them very easy to wear. Invisalign is also virtually invisible because the aligners are clear, so people around you won’t notice them. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss your teeth, and when you eat, so you can enjoy the foods you love.

What dental problems can Invisalign fix?

Invisalign can correct most of the alignment and positioning issues just like conventional braces. Invisalign can correct overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite. It can also straighten rotated, crowded teeth to give you a straight, beautiful smile.

How does Invisalign work?

Dr. Goldknopf will give you your first set of aligners, which you wear for 2 weeks, then you move up to another set, which you also wear for 2 weeks. You progress to a new set of aligners every 2 weeks until your treatment is complete. You will visit Dr. Goldknopf every few weeks so he can monitor your progress.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The entire process takes between 9 to 15 months.

If you're an adult, wearing metal braces may not seem very appealing. Fortunately, Invisalign, offered by your Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville, FL, Orthodontist, Dr. Josh Goldknopf, provides a much more discreet straightening choice.

The Invisalign system uses clear aligner trays to reposition your teeth. The transparent trays fit your upper and lower teeth snugly and don't detract from your appearance. You'll be given a series of trays and will wear each set in the series for about two weeks.

Invisalign is a convenient orthodontic option

Despite the nearly invisible appearance of your aligner trays, it may not always be convenient to wear them. Fortunately, you can remove them for a few hours if you're attending a dinner or other event. You'll normally wear the trays for 20 to 22 hours per day.

Invisalign treatment won't require any changes to your diet, unlike metal or ceramic braces. You'll remove your trays when you eat or drink anything other than water. As soon as you finish eating or drinking, you'll rinse your trays and put them back in your mouth.

Your oral hygiene routine won't need to change just because you're straightening your teeth. After you remove the trays, you can brush and floss normally.

You're never too old for Invisalign

Whether you've had an issue with your teeth since childhood, or you've noticed that your teeth have begun to shift in the last few years, Invisalign is an excellent option. Invisalign not only straightens teeth but closes gaps and is an effective treatment for underbites, overbites, crossbites and open bites.

Your treatment may not take as long as you think

Your Invisalign treatment may be completed much sooner than you anticipated. In fact, you may only need to wear your aligner trays for six to 12 months if you're an adult.

You won't have to make time for frequent dental visits

If you choose metal or ceramic braces, you'll need to visit your dentist often for wire adjustments. Since Invisalign is a wire-free system, there are no adjustments. You'll only need to schedule follow-up visits every six weeks.

Transform your smile with Invisalign. Call your Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville, FL, Orthodontist, Dr. Josh Goldknopf, at (904) 222-8588 to schedule your appointment.

Being a teen can be tough, and at an age when most are feeling self-conscious, a discreet way to fix crooked, gapped, or uneven teeth Invisaligncan be a lifesaver. While traditional braces remain an effective way for youth to achieve a straight smile, Invisalign is becoming an increasingly popular option for its ease, comfort, and appearance.

Once recommended only for adults, Invisalign now has options designed for teens to ensure proper usage and room to accommodate still-growing teeth. Here at Brace Place Orthodontics in both Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra, orthodontist Josh GoldKnopf, DDS, PA, offers the latest in Invisalign to help you decide if these aligners are a good choice for your teen.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Aligners forgo the wires and brackets used for braces, instead, opting to use a series of clear, flexible, and sturdy plastic aligners to straighten and properly space your teeth. Less conspicuous than braces, these aligners from our offices in Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra are molded to fit snugly over your teeth to make them virtually undetectable.

If your teen has a tendency to lose or break things, aligners have the advantage of coming with regular replacement sets. Your orthodontist will create a series of aligners to be rotated every few weeks as the teeth begin to shift.

Your teen may also find Invisalign to be quite comfortable, as the aligners are designed to concentrate on just a few teeth at a time, reducing the risk of soreness or pressure as the teeth move into place.

From a care standpoint, aligners are easily removed for brushing and flossing, making dental hygiene a breeze.

How can I make sure my teen is wearing their aligners?

Our offices offer special aligners that show you, your teen, and the orthodontist if the aligners are being worn for the recommended 22 hours a day. Colored dots serve as "compliance indicators," fading gradually as the aligners are in use. If your teen has teeth that are still "erupting," our aligners come with special tabs to create space for teeth to continually grow.

Invisalign Clear BracesSay hello to a beautifully straight smile with help from this clear orthodontic system.

Are you an adult that is dealing with a crooked or misaligned smile? If so, our Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach, FL, orthodontist Dr. Josh Goldknopf can help. Find out more about Invisalign, the clear alternative to a straighter smile, and how it could improve your appearance.

Here are just some of the wonderful benefits you’ll reap when you choose to get Invisalign:

A Healthier Smile

Most people don’t realize that a misaligned smile is actually prone to decay, gum disease and injuries. Think about it: If two teeth are overlapping isn’t it much harder to clean it properly and to thoroughly remove plaque? plaque that sits on teeth too long can lead to cavities. By getting a straighter smile you are also promoting better oral health for the long run.

A More Attractive Appearance

A lot of our confidence stems from our appearance. After all, first impressions are often based on the way we look. If you want a smile that exudes success and confidence then you’ll want a smile that you think is perfect. Luckily, getting Invisalign can give you the smile you want so you can feel more confident smiling in public.

A Discreet Approach

When it comes to braces, most people think of the standard bracket-and-wire system. While these systems are ideal for handling more complicated tooth movements they are visible. We know that many adults want to be able to hide their braces but still get a straighter smile. This is where Invisalign comes in. Clear, custom-made aligners fit snugly against the top and bottom teeth, making them far less visible than traditional braces.

Don’t Restrict Your Diet

When wearing traditional braces you’ll have to stay away from certain crunchy, sticky or hard foods that could damage or pull off your braces. This isn’t the case with Invisalign. Just pop out your aligners prior to eating or drinking then brush your teeth and place them back in when you’re done. Enjoy all of your favorite foods while also working to get a straighter smile.

Keep Teeth Clean

It can be challenging to be able to brush around brackets and wires and often times those with braces find themselves dealing with decay if they aren’t careful. Luckily, since Invisalign aligners are removable you can easily clean and maintain a healthy smile without having to stress about flossing around or between your braces.

The Brace Place Orthodontics provides comprehensive orthodontic treatment to patients of all ages living in the Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra, FL, areas. If you are interested in discussing Invisalign or other orthodontic options with us then give us a call.

Invisalign offers dental patients a way to get the results of wearing traditional braces without actually having to wear metal materials. Teenagers who are going through growing pains may be particularly resistant to wearing silver-colored, omnipresent metal braces—they prefer a “clearer” solution. However, teenagers are not always the best candidates for Invisalign because some of them cannot commit to wearing their devices as often as they should. Learn more about the ins and outs of choosing Invisalign for teens with an orthodontist at The Brace Place in Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Why Invisalign Is Preferred
Compared to wearing metal brackets and wires that are permanently attached to each of your teeth, wearing Invisalign's plastic, removable trays for about 20 hours per day is a piece of cake for most patients. Invisalign trays gently move the teeth until they meet a pre-determined arrangement decided by your orthodontist in about six months to a year instead of multiple years (common for standard braces). Patients also enjoy the freedom of being able to take their trays off at inconvenient times, such as when having dinner with a friend or playing a contact sport.

Choosing Invisalign for Teens
Because teenagers are more likely to take out their Invisalign trays on a whim and for longer periods of time, a unique treatment called Invisalign for Teens is available at The Brace Place in Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach, FL. There’s an indicator on either side of each tray that will let the orthodontist know if the teen has been wearing the device for the appropriate amount of time. It helps ensure that the treatment is proceeding as planned.

Tips for Teens Who Wear Invisalign Braces
If your teenager is considering or has just started an Invisalign treatment with your Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach, FL orthodontist, here are some ongoing tips to offer:

  • Keep your dental carrying case with you at all times to securely store your trays when not in use, and avoid putting them inside of tissue paper while eating (this is how many patients lose their trays and retainers).
  • Always put your Invisalign trays on before bed, directly after brushing and flossing.
  • To avoid extending the period of your braces treatment, wear your braces for at least 22 hours per day. The less you wear your trays, the longer the treatment will last.

A Straight Smile Early in Life
Some patients unfortunately wait until they are adults before straightening out their smiles. Now, teenagers can enjoy the smile benefits that come with Invisalign.
